Travel Ideas: Hike through the unearthly paths of the Lower Antelope Canyon in the Grand Canyon park.
Editor’s Notes: Wonderful, wonderful shots of the rich copper and terra cotta hues, subtle lighting and wild swirling rock formations of this remote canyon in the Grand Canyon National Park. The particular formation is a “slot” canyon, which makes for some tight squeezes but beautiful environment. In addition to the hiking, other travel ideas include camping out in the desert, photographing the amazing light and learning the geology of the region.
From the Producer on Vimeo: While work continues on my road trip (California-Minnesota) time lapse project, I put some of the video footage together I shot in the Lower Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona. I took two hours to walk some 400 meters (ca. 450 yards), not because of the difficulty of the terrain, but because of it’s beauty. So time was up (and closing time of the canyon at hand), much, much quicker than expected. I never got to realize the long time exposure time lapse I meant to shoot of guided tours passing by. I’m left with 100s of regular photos and this video footage I shot more as a b-roll than anything else. Still you may glimpse the unearthly beauty of this place. I shot in other slot canyons which I visited in the Escalante area – but these were more for adventure and less for pics.
