Travel Ideas: Enjoy the simple life in a small town in China, Xitang.
Editor’s Notes: Xitang (西塘) is a small town located not far from Shanghai in southeast China. It’s one of the many towns centered on a confluence of rivers, with nine rivers crossed by scenic old stone bridges and reminiscent of Venice. Instead of gondolas, take one of the old-style flat boats to tour the town and see the traditional architecture. In addition to ancient homes and buildings, there are temples and shrines, including the Temple of the Seven Masters.
In addition to providing a sense of the tranquil nature of the town the videographer manages to give a pretty good idea of some of the wares available to tourists – must be a shopper.
