The area attracts travelers looking for a bright,sunny vacation spot where they can experience German traditions and drink in the local culture of wine and beer.

The southern trunk of the Black forest can be explored from the delightful town of Staufen with its cobbled streets and classic old European architecture. A 15th century castle is perched above the town and there are vineyards in the area where you can sample the local hometown wine.

Travel by rental car is easiest and will give you the most flexibility. It’s an easy drive of less than 2 hours to Staufen from nearby Zurich, so you can include a trip to the Black Forest in your holiday to either Germany or Switzerland.
