Travel Ideas: Travel deep into the heart of the Navajo spirit with a journey into the Monument Valley in Utah.
Editor’s Notes: This evocative video combines pictures of one of America’s more beautiful and remote natural wonders with the haunting flute music contributed by the videographer’s guide. Sandstone formations in the valley, up to 1000 feet high, appear to transform through a range of colors with changes in the weather, time of day and time of year. While it’s one of America’s most photographed natural wonders, the best way to experience it and capture it’s magic is during a multi-day trip to the back country. You’ll want to be there to photograph different times of day and from different locations. And for the most sublime part of the experience, listen to the incredible silence of the desert at night. Part of this video was filmed at a vantage point at “The View” hotel inside the Navajo nation’s grounds.
Tours that can take you onto the sacred Navajo are operated by Navajo Spirit Tours.
